Stuville

Short film directed by Stuart Everitt and Dp’d by myself
Was my third time working with Stuart on a project, we had previously done a test commercial for a fragrance ‘poison’ and also did an interview of Dolce and Garbana for ‘Vogue’ (and yes I got to meet them hehe)

Shot it on the Canon C300, with a couple of L-series lenses. We had some jib shots and some slider shots. We really went for a washed out yet saturated look. The projector room scene was my favourite, I beamed a 2K at an angle through the door to just rest on the edge of the inner wall while also hitting the floor to bring up the ambience in the room. Then we had a 250w Dedo spot on the film projector. We also added a little bit of smoke in the room which really brought out the edge light around the doll from the 2k outside.

The projector hitting the wall was enough fill (I was at 850 ISO) but I still had the dedo spread into a reflector which we altered its position to simulate the change in lighting from the projected film
The production was a one-day shoot. We had scouted the locations the previous day; I also took some readings of the light levels which allowed me light it with less light.
The short hasn’t officially been released, so there’s no info online to share now but I”ll keep this page updated.
